# Project spending limits

> Set a UTC-month credit limit and choose Continue or Stop.

Read the current budget before changing it:

```sh theme={null}
ohmyhost budget get --project "$PROJECT_ID" --json
```

Set a limit, or explicitly remove it:

```sh theme={null}
ohmyhost budget set --project "$PROJECT_ID" --credits 1000 --mode stop --idempotency-key "$BUDGET_REQUEST_KEY" --json
ohmyhost budget set --project "$PROJECT_ID" --credits none --idempotency-key "$UNLIMITED_REQUEST_KEY" --json
```

These are alternatives; run the one matching your decision. Without `--mode`, a limit is advisory (`continue`); pass `--mode stop` to stop billable work at the limit. `--credits none` cannot be combined with `--mode stop`. Each intentional change gets its own retained key; repeat an uncertain request with the original arguments/key.

The limit uses a UTC calendar month. **Stop** rejects new billable work with `project_budget_exceeded` and pauses the app when measured usage plus reservations reach the limit: Dev and Prod answer HTTP 402 `Project execution paused`. Raise or remove the limit, switch to **Continue**, or wait for the next UTC month; serving resumes within about five minutes. **Continue** keeps the app and work running after the threshold. Existing work and delayed measurements may settle later, so final costs can exceed the limit.

## Use the portal

Open the [portal](https://app.ohmyho.st/) and press **\$** on the project card to open **Usage & limits**. Enter a monthly limit in credits, choose **Stop at limit** or **Keep running** and save; an empty limit removes it. Only the workspace Owner sees these controls. Read the result back; the portal uses the same endpoint and authorization as CLI/MCP.
