# Etag mismatch

> What the `etag_mismatch` error means and what to do next.

The API, CLI and MCP return `etag_mismatch` with HTTP 409. Repeating the same request unchanged does not help.

## What to do

The project changed after you read its ETag. For a rename, read etag from 'ohmyhost project status --project ULID --json' and repeat 'ohmyhost project handle set' with it. For a rollback, promotion or deletion, create a new plan and confirm with its resource\_etag and confirmation\_token.
